Karachi Shipyard and Engineering Works Limited (KS&EW) is a Pakistani government defense contractor and military enterprise based in West Warf, Karachi, Sindh.
KSEW Limited is Pakistan’s oldest shipyard, offering shipbuilding, ship repair, and general heavy engineering equipment. The Pakistan Navy, has manufactured cargo ships, oil tankers, tug boats, support vessels, landing craft, ships, and submarines.
It also develops and repairs for a diverse range of customers in Pakistan, including the Pakistan National Shipping Corporation, Karachi Port Trust, Port Qasim Authority, and the private sector. The Government of Pakistan owns all of the company’s shares, which are administered by the Ministry of Defence.
It began as a project of the Pakistan Industrial Development Corporation (PIDC) in the mid-1950s. Later, in 1957, it was formed as a public limited company with a board of directors and a managing director.
It contains a huge shipbuilding hall, three-block fabrication facilities, three shipbuilding berths, two dry docks, a machine shop, grit blasting, a painting facility, a ship lift with a 7881-ton capacity, a transfer system, and 13 parking stations.
